Education advocacy organization puts support behind candidates who will continue fighting for children in the Ocean State and its capital city.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Collective Action for Education today announced its endorsement of eight incumbent state legislators and Providence city councilors in their respective reelection campaigns. The education advocacy organization believes that these elected officials will continue their efforts to ensure children in Rhode Island have great teachers, a well-rounded education, and the support they need to succeed.
“Good public education in our state starts with great leaders and elected officials,” said Victor Capellan, founder and CEO of Collective Action for Education. “These representatives and councilors have been strong advocates for policies that help children reach their full potential and give families a voice in education.”
Collective Action for Education has endorsed State Representatives Grace Diaz, Joshua Giraldo, Ramon Perez, and Scott Slater for re-election. It has also endorsed City Councilors Pedro Espinal, Jim Taylor, Ana Vargas, and Oscar Vargas.
At a time when education is a top issue at multiple levels of government, it is crucial that Rhode Island and its municipalities be led by elected officials who strive to give students more public school options, not fewer.
The organization has also made endorsements in other key races this cycle, including several other Providence City Council and General Assembly races, and the Providence mayoral contest.
Collective Action for Education plans to continue to announce endorsements as the campaign season continues. Rhode Island’s statewide primary election will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
